Hi! I’m Carla Putnam Kerr, and I have a confusing two-word last name (it has a space, not a hyphen), mostly because I felt like the hyphen made me sound like a paint brand!

I’m an award-winning communications and public relations professional with a combined 20 years of education and experience in communications and reputation management, including proven successes with challenging topics like city-changing infrastructure projects (I worked on the communications for the iconic Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton, Alberta), cannabis legalization and provincial legislation. I’m also a Prosci-certified change management practitioner and a GCCC-accredited Strategic Communications Management Professional (SCMP®).

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in B2B marketing at a Fortune 100 company and had communications and social media roles for large membership organizations. Since 2014, I’ve spent my career in municipal government environments working on projects that contribute to the experiences of Edmontonians and Albertans. My particular areas of expertise are public relations, reputation management and writing (please don’t separate me from my CP Stylebook).

I also opened up my freelance business, Putnam Kerr Communications, in 2013. To date, I’ve primarily worked with entrepreneurs and not-for-profits who need assistance telling the world how amazing their organizations are.
